Europe was a continent on Earth (Earth-38) that formed half of Eurasia. It was located to the west of Asia, north of Africa, and east of the Atlantic Ocean from the Americas on Earth-38. The continent was destroyed during the Anti-Monitor Crisis, when a wave of antimatter wiped out the whole Earth (Earth-38).[1]

History

Ancient times

In the ancient past, A banshee in Ireland was robbed by an ancestor of Siobhan Smythe, so she cursed the women in that family with the Curse of the Banshee. It is a supernatural affliction placed upon the Smythe family bloodline of Sinead and Siobhan Smythe after one of their ancestors in Ireland stole from a banshee. Rooted in dark magic, the curse compels the women of the family to kill anyone who wronged them (at least from their point of view) to break the spell.[2]

One of the Greek ancient mythological gods was Hades, deity of the underworld.[3] Aristotle[4] (384-322 BC) and Epicurus[5] (341-270 BC) were two known philosophers that lived in ancient Greece, the former known by Mon-El up to 2017-3011 and the latter known by Lex Luthor up to 2015-2019. Phillip of Macedon also fathered Alexander the Great in approximately 359 BC, who conquered the region and was hence Alexander Luthor's namesake.[6]

While imprisoned at Stryker's Island Penitentiary (Earth-38), Lex Luthor engraved on the wall of his cell with a bass-relief depicting Hannibal crossing the Alps during 212 BC. he built a secret computer room inside it, and also wrote dozens of diaries to complement these dealings.[7]

In 71 BC, Spartacus, the Undefeatable, commanded his army to lead a battle against the Roman Republic.[8] During the eruption of 79 AD, Rama Khan destroyed the ancient city-state of Pompeii and Herculaneum[9] via a volcano and the Staff of the Shadow World to kill off a portion of humanity.[10]

The Roman Empire also reached its peak in 117 AD, before Rome's fall thus threw much of European civilization into disarray and turmoil, which was documented in the British essayist and historian Edward Gibbon's book The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire; it was published in 1789.[11]

Age of Enlightenment

In 1818, the future philosopher Karl Marx was born in Germany. He eventually wrote a book titled A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy, which was used by Soviet Russia to found their ideology of Communism and Socialism to oppose Capitalism; he himself eventually moved to London and died in England in 1883.[11]

That same year/up to '85, the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) wrote the book Thus Spoke Zarathustra, which was eventually read by Snowbird as one of/to learn about several notions on politics and economics; and from which arose the concept of the Übermensch, literally 'Superman' or 'Overman'. Both books were mailed by Lex Luthor as sent to Kaznia.

Hailing from Geneva, Ferdinand de Saussure was a Swiss linguist who lived in Geneva from 1857-1913. He compiled his lectures to write his book Course in General Linguistics in around 1907-11, and it was published posthumously in 1916; it was eventually read by Red Daughter when the book was mailed by Lex Luthor to Kaznia.[11]

War after war

In 1940, France was fighting a war against Germany. Later in 1943, revolutions occurred in Italy during the rule of Mussolini's fascist dictatorship. At some point in in 1942, revolutions also occurred in Germany as spurned by the White Rose movement, but Hitler will imprison and execute them in Munich. Before 1945, he become a renowned notionalist, coining up a phrase that the man has no reason not to be as cruel as nature itself.[12]

John Corben was possibly of German heritage, as noted by the D.E.O.. A notorious assassin, he had links to Intergang, Kaznian terrorists, and a genocide that occurred in Corto Maltese. he is wanted by such organizations in various countries; including - the United States (Earth-38)'s D.E.O., C.I.A. (Earth-38), & FBI (Earth-38), Earth (Earth-38)'s Interpol, Germany's BND, Israel's Mossad, the ASIS, China (Earth-38)'s MSS, the GRLS, and Ireland's CIS-SIGINT.[13]

in 2018, Ben Lockwood wrote the manifesto Twilight's Last Gleaming, and the Children of Liberty spread it throughout National City via drones. Querl Dox could not trace any fingerprints or serial numbers. Despite D.E.O. Director Alex Danvers comparing the literature to leaflets that were historically used to activate uprisings, such as the White Rose in Germany [in 1942] or the CIA in Guatemala in 1954, Colonel Lauren Haley declared the D.E.O. would not be involved in the matter. But Alex disobeyed this order and had agent Dox continue the investigation.[14]

Soviet Russia

On July 16, 1918, the seven main members of the Romanov family were executed in Russia. This event, the Russian Revolution, became highly known and studied. It was assumed that Anastasia had escaped the rest of her family's death, including the Tsar Nicholas II (her father), his wife the Tsarina Alexandra Romanova, and his other three daughters (her sisters).[15]

In the mid-20th century, the Soviet Union was a former communist government opposed to the United States, including their capitalist way of life. They, and their successors such as Russia, were referred to as "commies", referring to the ideology of Communism. After the Soviet Union was dissolved, its former member states, such as Kaznia (supposedly crazier than Russia!), wanted to bring back "its glory days" in 2019.[11] It was also succeeded by other constituent republics such as Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

By the 21st century, many European countries are part of the trading bloc known as the European Union, or E.U. for short. During the Cold War, many European countries also took sides, to align either towards NATO or with the Warsaw Pact, respectively with the United States (Earth-38) which opposed Soviet Russia.[11]

In 2018, when Supergirl used Harun-El to be able to travel in time, the remnants of temporal magic soon ventured into the Siberian Border and materialized into a copy of her. The copy ventured forth through the snow and eventually approached a group of Siberian soldiers at the border between Russia and Kaznia.[11]

In spring 2018, the remains of Reign, infused with the magic of the Harun-El, separated from her battle with Supergirl and dissipated halfway across Earth (Earth-38), before materializing in Siberia. From them walked a copy of Supergirl, who was met by a number of soldiers in winter uniforms.[16] She was codenamed "Snowbird" by the Kaznian government and taken into training.[11]

Several months later, Snowbird was seen digging in an underground mine in Southern Kaznia. Thus, it is likely that the soldiers stationed in Siberia were also Kaznian. Her digging caused an earthquake in the mountains, leading to an imminent train crash, which was luckily prevented by Supergirl, who also grabbed a bottle of brand Kaznian alcoholic drink. The Supergirl copy continued her digging under the watch of the Kaznian soldiers.[17]

In the early 21st century, Though Kara was annoyed with the conversation, Lena reminded her of how they tracked Lex through Eve's exploits in Kaznia.[18]

Modern age

In 2004, when Andrea Rojas was at Mount Helena Boarding School in Buenos Aires; Argentina, her mother visited Paris; France.[19]

In 2015, Alex Danvers was on board an airplane headed for Geneva; Switzerland, though her plane was sabotaged by wayward Fort Rozz escapees.[20]

A last-minute conference call between Cat Grant, London; UK, and Beijing; China was prevented by technical problems.[21]

A refugee crisis in Turkey and Greece caused the E.U. intelligence to urge orderly security procedures for refugees at the borders, in light of security risks. The president was also planning to attend a climate summit next month in Europe, despite/amidst protests likely from the United States (Earth-38).[22]

In 2017, Kara Danvers and Mon-El mentioned that they were trying to save up for a trip to Paris; France as ruse to infiltrate the slave trade on Maaldoria.[23]

Rudy Jones worked as a researcher to stop climate change at the Thorul Arctic Research Station in Svalbard, Norway. In November 2016, his team found a frozen wolf that was oddly emanating heat signatures as if it was alive despite having been killed over 4,000 years ago. Jones began to perform an autopsy on the wolf, only to become infected by an Angon alien parasite, which had infested the animal's tissues. The parasite took over Jones' body and proceeded to kill all of his coworkers.[24]

Some time later, the D.E.O. visited Svalbard; Norway, in which the agents rescued Rudy Jones from the Thorul Arctic Research Station and took him back to National City; CA in the United States.[24]

Samantha Arias followed her newly-acquired beacon's signal to the middle of a desert clearing somewhere in Kazakhstan. All of a sudden, the ground shook and pikes made of rock emerged to form, creating the Fortress of Sanctuary. Samantha went inside the structure and placed the beacon into a Kryptonian computer console panel which caused everything around her to activate. A holographic projection of Selena emerged, and told Sam that that this place was her Fortress of Sanctuary, a piece of her dead home world, Krypton.[25]

Manchester Black and Fiona Byrne met and lived in England (Earth-38), before they moved to the United States (Earth-38).[17]

At some point, William Dey became renowned for his article on eminent domain in Hartlepool; England (Earth-38).[26] Later, he started working for The Times of London, but eventually resigned and worked in another news media outlet.[26]

"American Alien" opens with a montage of Supergirl flying far and wide, sparing individuals from a wide range of circumstances — halting a looter in Madrid; Spain and sparing a train from smashing in Kaznia; Siberia. She flies back to National City; CA, to go to a question and answer session being held by President Olivia Marsdin back in the United States (Earth-38). [17]

In February 2019, the province of Catalonia held protests to break away from Spain and declare Catalan independence, as part of a wider global anti-alien movement that originated in the United States (Earth-38). When POTUS Phil Baker looks at an anti-alien protest on TV, the actual footage is from a pro-independence Catalan protest in Spain, where the Catalan flags can be seen.[27]

In October 2019, Kara flew to Paris; France, Milan; Italy, and Dublin; Ireland to buy all of Lena Luthor's favorite foods for her.[28]

At the end of the year/In December 2019, the continent was destroyed by antimatter, along with the rest of Earth-38, during the Anti-Monitor Crisis.[1]
