Deities, also known as gods, are a group of immortal supernatural entities. Although various beings are referred to as gods, what constitutes a god specifically is not made clear. However, there are certain traits that are shared among all or most of them.
History
Extra-terrestrial mythology
On Mars, there is a deity called H'ronmeer, who is the god of death and wrath. He had two sons, Deimos and Phobos, that have become the first owners of the Book of Sacred Scrolls and the Staff of Kolar. The symbols could be shared, but the staff could not. Deimos chose the Symbols, but Phobos chose the staff.[1]
On Krypton, there are two deities, Rao the god of sunlight[2] and Yuda Kal, the god of life.[3]
Extra-dimensional mythology
According to Mar Novu himself, there was likely no name for the Maltusians before he was confirmed to originate from the planet Maltus (Earth-TUD7), so naming his species as a 'god' would have to suffice.[4] Additionally, the Forces of Nature that originate from the Cosmic Plane (or including Khione, a hybrid being of meta-human DNA who declared it herself, despite possessing Caitlin Snow's body)[5] can also be considered deities, though they typically possess human bodies (or in the case of the Speed Force, manifest physically as tangible entities such as taking the form of Nora Allen, when present in the physical world/on Earth-Prime.)[6]
Terrestrial religious mythology
In Heaven or On Earth (1/38/Prime) there are many deities, but the better known is God, believed to be the creator of the universe (and likely by extension the multiverse) in the three Abrahamic religions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Eventually, the first of the fallen angels (Satan on Earth-1/Lucifer Morningstar on Earth-666) rebelled against God and were damned to Hell, becoming the ruler of the demons. God also created humans such as Adam and Eve, who inhabited the Garden of Eden, then destroyed an evil sorcerer and the black diamond with Noah's Great Flood, and also sent Jesus Christ onto Earth (Earth-1) to be crucified later on.
In Greek mythology, there are many deities, including the supreme god Zeus (son of Cronus and Rheam later the father of Ares the god of war, and also his eccentric son Dionysus, as well as his daughter Helen of Troy); they are known as the Olympians, rulers of Mount Olympus. The Fates, three Greek sisters comprised of the deities Clotho, Atropos and Lachesis, weave the Loom of Fate, until Clotho realizes she wants mortals to decide their own fates and betrays her own sisters by destroying the powerful loom, subsequently diminishing the Fates' own powers. Clotho goes on the run and later adopts the name Charlie to hide from her sisters.[7] In Roman mythology, there are many deities, including a similarly named god of war Mars (character), namesake of the red planet Mars (Earth-Prime).[8]
In Hindu mythology (such as in India (Earth-1)'s Indus Valley), there are many deities, including the god of motion Savitr, namesake of the immortal/first speedster Savitar (according to a legend poised by Jay Garrick - despite previously claiming that speedsters are not gods, only powered humans that can alter timelines,[9] as was later recounted to his daughter Nora[10]) who was actually a time remnant of Barry Allen/The Flash.[11]
In African mythology, Amaya Jiwe's ancestors' souls are also affiliated with the ancestral plane that serves as their mindscape, having split the Anansi Totem long ago and spread across the world since then.[12][13]
In Norse mythology, there are many deities, including the All-Father Odin (with his lightning-based powers & spear, and his son, the god of thunder Thor who uses his hammer Mjolnir), who inhabit the realm of Asgard.[14][15] The Vikings that worship these deities believe that they will go to the realm of Valhalla upon their death in battle, such as conquering Scandinavia; though they have been known to worship aberration idols such as a displaced Beebo toy, in order to conquer North America (Earth-1) as New Valhalla.[16]

Powers and abilities
Powers
- Magic: Deities possess incredible magical powers and knowledge.
- Immortality: As deities, they can live forever as they are immune to aging and disease.
- Invulnerability: They are most likely unharmed by conventional weaponry. However, Charlie, one of the Greek goddesses of fate, says that she can be harmed by a gun,[7] although this could be a result of John Constantine making her mortal and therefore a trait unique to Charlie.
- Superhuman strength: They are exceedingly strong.
- True form: The three Fates have a true form which is capable of killing any mortal who views it (with the exception of Sara Lance, who gained the power to see the future instead.
- Omnipotence: The deity commonly referred to as God (and also the Kryptonian deity Rao) have omnipotence over the multiverse (or at least individual earths and other planets). The deity Brigid was capable of creating a diary which could warp reality and create constructs from imagination.[18]
- Omniscience: God and Rao know all knowledge.
- Shapeshifting: The Fates have been shown to have the capability to shapeshift. This caused others to believe Charlie was a shapeshifter. This ability is subject to the same restrictions as that of other shapeshifters: John Constantine was able to perform a "shapeshifter lobotomy" on Charlie that weakened her power.
- Emotional control: Dionysus has been shown to be capable of manipulating the minds of humans to mindlessly follow him.[19]
- Object creation: Deities such as H'ronmeer are capable of creating objects like the Staff of Kolar. Atropos was capable of conjuring knives. Brigid created a diary.[18] Anansi created the Anansi totem of Zambesi.
- Creature creation: The deity Ma'at was capable of creating small beetles which had the power to force the truth.[20]
- Object bond: The Fates were shown to have a magical bond with the Loom of Fate, being aware of its status and having powers dependent on it. Dionysus was capable of controlling his chalice and preventing people from taking it.
- Reanimation: Atropos was capable of raising zombies from the dead.[21]
- Power bestowal: Yuda Kal, and ancient Kryptonian deity, was capable of bestowing magic on Olivia.[3]
Weaknesses
- Deity powers: Deities are capable of being destroyed by other deities, as Shiva was capable of immolating Kamadeva, leaving behind his ashes, which were claimed by a man named Sunjay [22]
- Loom of Fate: When Atropos was tangled in the strings of the Loom of Fate, both she and the loom exploded. It is presumed she was killed in this explosion, meaning that the Loom of Fate can kill deities at the expense of its own destruction.[23]
- Devotion: Some deities, such as Dionysus, have been shown to rely on devotion to maintain their power and perhaps even their immortality.[19]
