Sol, commonly referred to as the Sun to those in its orbit, was a yellow star in the universe of Earth-2. The star was orbited by at least two astronomical bodies, including the planet Earth and Mars, both part of the Solar System. The star was destroyed presumably by a wave of antimatter shortly before the onset of the Anti-Monitor Crisis, along with the rest of the universe of Earth-2.

History

Known orbiters

The planet Earth (Earth-2) was said to have a cleaner climate than Earth-1 due to less pollution in the atmosphere;[1] as especially noted in Gorilla City (Earth-2); Africa (Earth-2) in early 2017 (on the day of February 21).[2]. It is also noted that Earth (Earth-1) sometimes lacks clouds unlike this earth, causing far more solar radiation to irradiate the planet. Additionally, the planet Mars (Earth-2) was presumably fairly close to Earth (Earth-2), as the residents of Central City (Earth-2) had enough information about the planet to create an entire exhibit on it at a planetarium there, when Jesse Wells was four years old and her father Harry Wells shut down the facility out of fear of losing her when she got lost there.[3]

Age of meta-humans

In the skyline of , the sunlight appears slightly more hazy, but the climate of is noticeably cooler even in the equatorial regions, despite greater solar irradiance.

Central City (Earth-2) was a retro-futuristic city located in the United States (Earth-2), whcih has a building that features a sun-like logo on it.[4][5] At some point in mid-May of 2017 (day 17), Cisco Ramon vibed a possible future of "Earth-2 being ripped to shreds" via Zoom's Magnetar, possibly including Central City (Earth-2); the now empty Central City aerial tramway was seen to crumble onto the S.T.A.R. Laboratories parking lot, while the Los Angeles-like buildings themselves were torn apart/as the planet Earth (Earth-2) split at the poles. The Sun was likely also shredded into a cloud of gas or dust from the trans-dimensional shock wave,[6] though this destructive/apocalyptic event was avoided at the last second, due to a time remnant of Barry Allen/The Flash interfering with the Magnetar device.

Destruction of Earth-2

In the skyline of , the sunlight apparently appears white.

In late 2019 (on the night of October 15, when the Sun is shining presumably far away the Americas/the United States (Earth-2)), the entire planet of Earth (Earth-2) was vaporised by a wave of antimatter, presumably killing all of its residents that were not relocated via interdimensional extrapolator to breach out of the universe of Earth-2 itself, and likely also destroying any other planetary bodies such as planet Mars (Earth-2) and the Sun itself.[7] One week later, there is now no longer any sign of life on the planet Earth (Earth-2) itself, seeing as the whole universe of Earth-2 is now a shadow. However, Hong Kong (Earth-1) tends to retain a very similar yellow-tinted daylight to its own city skyline, as of October 22.[8]

Appearances

Being Earth (Earth-2)'s Yellow Sun, Sol has had numerous cameo appearances throughout most, if not all of the The Flash appearances that feature Earth-2 during the daytime. However, it was highlighted in several episodes when suspended in the sky:
