Midnight is a powerful entity from an unknown planet who was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone by J'onn J'onzz and was later released by Malefic J'onzz to attack J'onn.
In 2019, Midnight was brought to Earth through a portal created by Malefic J'onzz. While there, she was found by the Superfriends, who attempted to send her back, but she fled. She once again appeared at a Pulitzer Prize event, taking on the entire team, but they ultimately bested her, sending her back.[1]
In the new multiverse, J'onn said that Malefic was only able to find Midnight in the Phantom Zone because he knew her exact location.[3]
Powers and abilities
Powers
Alien physiology: No one knows what planet Midnight is from, or what her species is.[1]
Ergokinesis: Midnight can manipulate and project energy from her hands to attack J'onn and Kara. She can even use it to create shields to protect herself from attacks such as Nia's dream energy.[1]
Super strength: Midnight was strong enough to throw J’onn off the stage.
Portal creation: Midnight can generate voids to travel from one place to another. However, she apparently cannot open portals between different dimensions, as she cannot use her portal to escape the Phantom Zone.[1]
Teleportation: Midnight can teleport via the portals she creates.[1]
Super speed: Midnight is shown to be able to use superspeed while flying to catch up with J'onn J'onzz.[1]
Abilities
Expert hand-to-hand combatant: Midnight is a highly trained hand-to-hand combatant. Combined with her superhuman physical attributes, she was able to physically overpower J'onn J'onzz.[1]
In the DC comics, M1dn1ght was a computer code incarnate created by Lena Luthor and unintentionally brought to life by Superwoman. M1dn1ght was programmed to free Lena from her dimensional prison.
