Biography
Early life
At some point before 2014, Hugo met and fell in love with Martina in Mexico City, they got married and had a son named Mateo.[1]
The Brujeria
Soon after Diego's birth, Hugo had the opportunity to hold him. They were helped by one of the sisters who cared for the mother. When she and Hugo left the room, Martina decided to rest. After a short time, a terrible scream resounded in the monastery, all ran towards its source - to Martina's bed. There, Hugo noticed her dead, bloody body, as well as the absence of a newborn. Broken and devastated, he called the police, and as he was a policeman himself, an investigation was immediately launched. He himself was removed from the case and he began to drink in his house. One night he saw two people in the yard, so he ran out and threatened them with a gun. It turned out that Anne Marie Flynn asked an exorcist friend for help, and the latter discovered that instead of the child's fetus buried in the ground next to the house, the tree absorbed its power and the fruit acquired human properties - they were composed of skin and blood. They both decided to explain everything to Hugo, describing the find as old ties to the Garden of Eden. They recalled the story of the first humans on Earth, namely Eve and her sisters, who had rejected Adam's offer to serve as goddesses in Hell. After returning to the monastery, it turned out that another child had disappeared. To everyone's surprise, it was a descendant of Hugo, and more precisely a child of his eldest son.[1]
This made Constantine understand that the monster they were confronting wanted the Lopez blood. Soon after, he discovered that the kidnapper was Lamashtu, who pretended to be one of the nuns. After informing his friends what they were struggling with, Constantine reassured Hugo that his descendants might be alive, as Lamashtu tends to slowly absorb the vital energy of babies. Together, they decided to find out about the Lopezs' past by visiting Hugo's mother. Pia Lopez told a story about a family that has had a problem with Brujería for years. John could not believe what he was hearing, because the sisters had been dead for a long time and he would not have had the strength to reach Earth. It was then that he realized that everything was to blame for the Rising Darkness, which was getting harder to deal with. So they made a plan to get the kidnapped children back. Constantine decided to fill the chicken with Hugo's blood and cast a special spell on him, thanks to which Lamashtu would see him as another child. These, however, had to be sacrificed by a woman, so Anne Marie agreed to this sacrifice. As soon as the witch took the bait, Hugo unexpectedly followed her in pursuit, trying to shoot her. At the last moment, the team stopped the man and the three of them went to the sewers to find the babies.[1]
Hugo waited a moment for the occultists, and after a while he saw Chas with his grandson and a nun with her son, whom he took to a safe place.[2]
