Eternium is an interdimensional element used by Mar Novu and searched for by Harrison Nash Wells across the multiverse.
History
Millennia ago, Mar Novu used Eternium to trap the Anti-Monitor in a sealed chamber on Earth-1.[1]
In 2019, Harrison Nash Wells traveled to Earth-1 in search of eternium. He broke into McCulloch Technologies attempting to find some. The following day, he was met by Iris West-Allen and Cisco Ramon, who'd tracked him down. He quickly confronted Cisco, but detected it around Iris. After their confrontation, Wells located some eternium particles in a manhole in the same location, which gave entry to the Central City tunnels.[2]
He then met Team Flash in the tunnels and told they that he must go through the rocky walls that he stated contained a gateway to Monitor's realm. However, Nash revealed soon after that they had no means of breaching the eternium defenses that the Monitor had placed on the wall as Barry's Intangibility did not work and Ralph using a jackhammer on the wall would only cause the eternium to unleash a catastrophic molecular blast that could wipe out all life on Earth-1.
Later, Nash made a deal with Allegra in which he would reveal everything about doppelgängers and the multiverse in exchange that she uses her power to reveal where the eternium was located in the Monitor's wall. At first, Allegra denied it but then ended up helping him.[1]
Functions
- Anti-vibrational forcefield: Eternium was capable of creating an anti-vibrational forcefield, which would prevent meta-humans such as Speedsters and all-powerful beings like The Anti-Monitor from entering or escaping through the wall. According to Nash, if a wall with Eternium is too far-fetched, it can destroy all life on Earth.

Behind the scenes
- In the DC comics, eternium are shards composed of material cast from the Rock of Eternity, which was the lair of the wizard Shazam. Being near this material has the effect of removing the powers of Shazam.
